Packing for Halong Bay

Halong Bay in my opinion is one of the most BEAUTIFUL parts of South East Asia and definitely worth a visit on your Vietnam travel. If you’re travelling to Halong Bay, then here a few handy tips to consider when packing for your journey...

We recommend leaving your main luggage at your Hanoi hotel and taking a small overnight bag with you to Halong Bay as your cabin onboard is fairly small.
It takes around 4 hours to travel by road to Halong Bay, passing some really interesting scenery and stopping off for a refreshment break but we would recommend taking something to read and music to listen to (or even a pillow) to pass the time!

If you are travelling to Vietnam in In the summer months (May to September) it is usually very warm. For beach days, pack two swimsuits, one beach cover-up or large T-shirt, one baseball hat or wide-brimmed sun hat and flip-flops or waterproof sandals per traveler. Pack a light sweatshirt or sweater for chilly mornings and evenings  In the winter months (October to April) it can get pretty chilly in Halong Bay, so remember to take lots of layers, such as a jumper and jacket for the evening. You can take your own drinks with you if you like, or order some Vietnamese wine on board. And a lightweight nylon jacket if there is a probability of rain in the forecast.
All food is included in the price of this Halong Bay trip. Weather permitting, you may be able to Kayak around the bay, or even jump off the boat for a swim so don’t forget your swimming gear!

You’ll need eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lens and solution. Place all prescription and over-the-counter medications and a first-aid kit, insect repellent in a sealable plastic storage bag. Secure itineraries, tickets and any reservation confirmations in an easily accessible location such as a day pack.
I’d also recommend taking walking shoes and binoculars for the small excursions, as you wouldn’t want to miss out on the magical experiences or breathtaking views. Finally, don’t forget your passport! It’s needed to sail through the emerald waters of Halong Bay. If you’ve recently travelled to Halong Bay and have any other tips or pictures you'd like to share, then feel free to let me know.
